Scattered, strong storms rumbling through East Texas

Posted: Updated:
EAST TEXAS (KTRE) -

An August cold "cool" front will continue to push through East Texas this afternoon.  Along that front, scattered showers and storms will develop and move southward through Lufkin and Nacogdoches.

These storms will contain heavy rain, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, and some gusty winds.  Since these storms are scattered in nature, not everyone will get wet, but those of you that do could end up with close to an inch of rain.

These storms will linger into the evening hours before slowly winding down overnight.  Once the front gets south of the Piney Woods, some drier and more stable air will filter into the region, shutting off the rain.
