What started as a burglary call turned into a deadly house fire Saturday.
A neighbor called 911 to report a burglary near 59th Avenue and Thomas Road.
When police arrived, they were told the suspect was hiding in the attic of another house.
Neighbors were evacuated, but as police went to get in the suspect started a fire, said Phoenix police Sgt. Tommy Thompson.
Fire crews could not save the home.
The suspect was found dead inside. The victim's name was not released.
