JASPER, TX (KTRE) - A Jasper girl who won a dream trip to Schlitterbahn Galveston got a little added bonus during her trip to the popular water park.
Claudia Villagrana, the mom of the 10-year-old, said they received a $250 Valero gas card from Jasper Oil Company and a cooler full of food and drinks from Lakes Area Hospice and Advantage Home Care.
Villagrana says they can't afford much because of the cost of her daughter's medical bills and she is extremely grateful for everything the community has done for her family.
The girl, Alejandra Lenoir, has had 19 different surgeries since birth and the only activity she can enjoy is swimming. Waitress Rosa Briz at Elijah's Cafe in Jasper heard that Lenoir wanted to go to Schlitterbahn before school started, but wouldn't be able to because of her families finances.
When a competition at work came up Briz jumped at the opportunity and sold the most amount of desserts. Her prize? Two tickets to Schlitterbahn.
Briz says it was a no brainer to give the tickets to Lenoir and once Schlitterbahn heard about the good deed they decided to donate 24 more tickets to the Lenoir family.
Villagrana says it was a great experience because most of their trips to Galveston are for medical reasons.
