LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Friends and family members of a Lufkin couple who had premature twins on Aug. 13 are seeking help from the community to help cover the cost of the memorial service for one of the twins, who died on Aug. 17, and defray the cost of the surviving twin's hospital stay and other expenses.

Along those lines, an account has been set up in the father's name at Commercial bank of Texas.

Dorothy Garrett, a family friend of the twins' parents, David and Brenda Flemon, said Brendon and Brandon weren't due until October. The Flemons reside in Lufkin.

Brendon, who weighed 1 pound, eight ounces when he was born, died Saturday. The other twin, Brandon, is still fighting for his life at the Women's Hospital of Texas in Houston. Brandon weighed 3 pounds, 8 ounces when he was born.

"On Saturday, August 17, God called little Brendon home to rest," Garrett said in an e-mail. "Their mother, Brenda, had some major problems, but by the grace of God, she was released from the hospital on the 18th."

Brenda Flemon is staying in a hotel in the Houston area, so she can be close to her son. David Flemon works Monday-Saturday each week and has to commute from Lufkin to Houston and back every weekend.

Garrett said an account has been set up at Commercial Bank of Texas, so people can donate to help the family with Brendon's funeral costs and defray the costs associated with Brandon's care, out-of-town expenses, and travel costs.

Donations can be made to Commercial bank of Texas. They need to be sent via US Postal Service to 600 South First Street, Lufkin, Texas 75904. The account is in David W. Flemon's name.

"Please indicate ‘Attention Teller" on your Check," Garrett wrote. "Every dollar and prayer is truly appreciated."
