Melrose Water supply Corporation issues boil water notice

Due to low pressure/loss of service as a result of a water line break, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the Melrose Water Supply Corporation to issue a boil water notice for the following areas: east of County Road 353 on CR 350, CR 353, north and south FM 95, CR 381, CR 383, CR 384, CR 388, CR 392, CR 389, and CR 387.

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and for making ice, should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.

In lieu of boiling, Melrose Water Supply customers may also purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the water system's officials will notify its customers that water is safe for consumption. The rescind notice will be issued in the same way as the boil water notice.
