Big changes head to Texas Forestry Museum

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - There are some new faces at the Texas Forestry Museum in Lufkin.

On Friday morning a welcoming reception honored the new Museum Director and Education Coordinator who are both planning to honor the history of the museum while adding a little bit of fun.

Education Coordinator, Kaitlin Wieseman, sad it's humbling to get honored by the museum and is shocked that they took the time to welcome her to the new position.

"I definitely love working with children and have them also learn about new things and the forest area especially since I did not really know a lot and I'm just excited to learn about the forestry with the children," Wieseman said.

Rachel Collins, the new museum director, has already been fulfilling duties in the position for several months, but says she loves coming to work every morning.

"It has recorded and it exhibits the foundation of the economy here in East Texas and our culture, our way of life and it's just a wonderful place to be," Collins said.
