ZAVALLA, TX (KTRE) -

A Zavalla man was taken via helicopter to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler after an single-vehicle crash Sunday morning in Zavalla.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says the accident occurred around 11:30 AM near the intersection of Highway 63 and Highway 147.

Trooper Rusty Pitts say Preston Moody, 46, of Zavalla was driving a maroon truck when he apparently left the roadway, tried to overcorrect, went across southbound lanes on Hwy 63 and landed upside down in the woods.

Pitts says the truck was leaking diesel fuel but Moody managed to get out of the vehicle before it caught fire.

Zavalla Fire Department also responded to the scene to put out the fire.

DPS says Moody was conscious and alert on the scene but he was life-flighted to ETMC Tyler with unknown injuries.
