LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A two-vehicle accident near the intersection of John Redditt Drive and West Frank Avenue resulted in one woman, who complained of injuries to her side, being taken to a local hospital to be checked out Monday morning.
The wreck happened at approximately 10:30 or 10:45 a.m. Monday. According to Lufkin Police Officer Blake Witherspoon, a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 2008 Dodge Ram pickup were both traveling south on John Redditt Drive when both drivers exited the loop and tried to turn onto West Frank Avenue.
The driver of the Jeep turned too sharply and struck the passenger side of the pickup, according to Witherspoon. Because the driver of the Jeep wound up trapped inside her vehicle, Lufkin firefighters had to cut off the Jeep's driver's side door.
The driver of the Jeep was taken to Woodland Heights Medical Center after she complained of injuries to her left side. Her injuries did not appear to be life threatening. No other injuries were reported.
Witherspoon said there were two women in the Jeep and a father and a son in the Dodge Ram.
