SMYRNA, TN (WSMV) -

One man suffered minor burns after the home he lived in caught fire Thursday morning.

Smyrna fire officials said the fire was reported at 4:19 a.m. at the home on the 9000 block of Merlot Drive, which is west of Interstate 24.

"When we arrived we found the detached garage fully involved as well as the roof of the main home was also damaged," Smyrna Fire Chief Bill Culberson said.

Culberson said it appeared the fire may have started in the detached garage before spreading to the main home.

The man living in the home suffered minor burns on his hands and forehead. He was treated at the scene.
