Elderly man on bike hit, killed in Apache Junction

APACHE JUNCTION, AZ (CBS5) -

A 70-year-old man was killed Thursday morning while on an early morning bike ride in Apache Junction.

Police said the rider was hit by a car about 6 a.m. Thursday on Superstition Boulevard at Pinyon Drive. He died at the scene.

The road was closed while officers investigated the collision. The driver stopped and is talking with police.

The victim's identity is not being released at this time.
