Lufkin man injured when truck rolled over him now in serious condition

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A spokesperson for East Texas Medical Center Tyler confirmed that the condition of the Lufkin man injured Tuesday when his truck rolled over him at a local convenience store has been upgraded from "critical" to "serious."

L.G. Dove was taken by helicopter to EMTC Tyler for treatment of head injuries after an accident at the Chevron convenience store at the intersection of Atkinson Drive and Timberland Drive that occurred between 9 and 9:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Dove was getting gas at the convenience store when he somehow lost consciousness and fell to the ground. Because the Ford F-150 truck was not in "Park," it rolled down the hill and into Timberland Drive, rolling over Dove in the process. The truck wound up in the middle of Timberland Drive.

Sgt. David Walker of the Lufkin Police Department said at the scene that authorities do not know how Dove lost consciousness or how he received the head injuries.
