NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches County deputies arrested two Tennessee men and seized 10 pounds of marijuana following a traffic stop Thursday.

According to a press release from Sheriff Jason Bridges, a deputy stopped a vehicle for a seatbelt violation on Loop 224 and State Highway 21 East.

The two men in the vehicle, Mario Harvey, 25, and Richard Briars, 27, gave conflicting statements and showed signs of nervousness, Bridges said. The deputy asked for consent to search the vehicle but the driver refused, Bridges said.

A K-9 then did a free-air search on the vehicle and "alerted to the presence of narcotics," Bridges said.

Deputies then used a probable cause search of the vehicle and found 10 pounds of marijuana in a trash bag in the trunk, Bridges said.

Both men are charged with third-degree possession of marijuana.
