NOGALES, AZ (CBS5) -

Federal officers arrested six people in separate smuggling attempts at the southern Arizona border.

Marijuana, methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine were seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Nogales during a recent five-day period. The total value of the drugs is estimated at more than $2.2 million.

On Saturday, officers at the Mariposa Commercial facility found nearly 245 pounds of marijuana within compartments inside the back of a tractor trailer that appeared empty. In addition, more than 85 pounds of methamphetamine and nearly six pounds of heroin were also discovered. The combined value of the seizure was more than $1.5 million. A 35-year-old Mexican man was taken into custody.

In a separate incident, a 26-year-old Mexican woman was taken into custody the same day at the DeConcini Port when a CBP narcotics detection dog alerted to drugs within the rear bumper of her vehicle. Just less than 10 pounds of methamphetamine was seized, valued at more than $154,000, officers said.

Officers made three separate drug seizures at the DeConcini Port on Tuesday. They arrested a 23-year-old Tucson man after a service dog alerted to the presence of drugs in his vehicle. More than 14 pounds of meth, valued at nearly $221,000, were removed from the rear bumper.

That afternoon, a 19-year-old Mexican man was taken into custody when he attempted to enter the U.S. with more than 19 pounds of cocaine in his vehicle. The drugs were located within the interior rear quarter panels of his van, officers said. The drugs, valued at more than $175,000, were also detected by a CBP canine.

Later that evening, a 34-year-old woman and 30-year-old man, both from Phoenix, were arrested after attempting to bring meth through the port. A drug detection dog alerted to the sliding door of their van. Officers removed more than 11 pounds of methamphetamine estimated to be worth more than $175,000.

The suspects were referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations. The drugs and vehicles were processed for seizure.
