Accident closes eastbound lanes of I-10 at SR-85

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX (CBS5/AP) -

Interstate 10 eastbound at State Route 85, roughly 30 miles from downtown Phoenix, is closed due to a serious car accident, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The accident happened late Friday morning, said ADOT.

Drivers traveling eastbound are being detoured onto southbound SR-85.

Drivers wanting to reach the Phoenix area should exit SR-85 at Broadway Road or Maricopa County 85 to go eastbound, then use streets such as Miller Road or Airport Road/Verrado Way to return to Interstate 10.

Drivers who intend to go past Phoenix can get back on I-10 by continuing south on SR-85 then taking Interstate 8 eastbound. I-8 connects with I-10 near Casa Grande.

There is no estimated time as to when I-10 eastbound will reopen, according to ADOT.

Westbound traffic is not being affected.

For the most current information about highway closures and restrictions across Arizona visit ADOT's Travel Information site at http://www.az511.gov.
