LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The race for Lieutenant Governorof Texas is heating up and one candidate for the office was in East TexasMonday.
After making stops in Jacksonvilleand Nacogdoches, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples made a stop atBrookshire Brothers headquarters in Lufkin this afternoon.
Staples told supportersthat he has a six point running system that put focus on immigration reform. Staplesis a native of East Texas and says it is good to be home.
"We know our state issuccessful today because of the people right here in East Texas that areraising their families, working hard, being honest and treating their neighborslike they want to be treated," said Staples.
Staples was not in townlong, he had to make stops in Trinity and Livingston after the Lufkin stop. Thisweek, staples will make stops in 22 locations and 50 stops over the next threeweeks.
