Lufkin ISD school bus rear-ended by distracted driver, no injuries reported

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Lufkin ISD bus was involved in a minor accident Tuesday morning at the intersection of Paul Avenue and Loop 287. No one was injured in the accident.

According to a press release, a distracted driver rear-ended School Bus No. 39. None of the 27 students on the bus who were traveling from Herty Primary to Coston Elementary appeared to be injured in the accident. However, paramedics were on hand at Coston Elementary to double-check the students for any injuries.

"There were 27 students on the bus traveling from Herty on their way to Coston, all appearing to be fine after the accident," the press release stated. "Paramedics will be on hand at Coston Elementary to evaluate all of the students for any minor injuries.

"It was a minor incident where a car hit the back of a bus.," said Kelley Wesley, Lufkin ISD's director of transportation. "All of the students were in their seats, and everyone appears to be fine."
