Father arrested after standoff

Police arrested a man after he held his family against their will in their home in Wolcott Tuesday night.

Wolcott police arrested John St. George, 45, after one of his daughters called police to say her parents were involved in an argument and would not let anyone leave the house.

After police arrived, three of St. George's children fled the house, followed by St. George. After walking out of the home and showing officers that he was unarmed, he noticed an officer in the rear of a neighbor's home and fled back into the house.

A short time later St. George left the home again and was arrested by police. He has been charged with assault, reckless endangerment, unlawful restraint, threatening, risk of injury and cruelty to an animal.

During the incident St. George allegedly had been pointing a 9 mm gun at himself and the other residents of the home.

St. George was arraigned Wednesday and his next court appearance is on Oct. 1. He is being held on $150,000 bond.
