Paradise Valley now using online tools to help fight crime

Posted: Updated:
PARADISE VALLEY, AZ (CBS5) -

The Paradise Valley Police Department has implemented two online tools in an effort to improve communications with the community and provide a conduit for reporting crimes.

The department has implemented CrimeReports, which allows the agency to publish local crime data, improve information flow and transparency and to help create a two-way dialogue with citizens, according to a department news release.

Citizens can view for free local crime data in near real time by entering a zip code or specific address.

The other tool, TipSoft, is a technology that allows citizens to communicate anonymously with law enforcement without speaking directly to an officer and is used extensively in the U.S.

Citizens can submit crime tips through the web, a text message or from any Android or iPhone with the TipSubmit mobile app.

With the new tools, Paradise Valley citizens will now be able to:

  • View near real-time online reports of crime in the region
  • Set up daily, weekly, or monthly automated reports on a variety of crime types
  • Send anonymous crime tips to Paradise Valley police
  • Access CrimeReports from their smartphone or mobile device

More information can be found on the Paradise Valley website.
