Skeletal remains found in Tucson are identified

Posted: Updated:
TUCSON, AZ (AP) -

Authorities say skeletal remains found by construction workers in Tucson last year have been identified.

Tucson police say the remains are those of 51-year-old Christopher Mazzarella. He was identified through DNA.

Background information on Mazzarella isn't immediately available.

Police say the remains were found in May 2012 on the property of the old DeAnza Drive-In theater.

At the time, authorities believed the bones had been buried at the location for several years.

Forensic examination of the remains by the Pima County Medical Examiner's Office determined the manner of death to be a homicide.

Police say how Mazzarella died still is under investigation.
