Lufkin PD investigating aggravated robbery, firearm theft

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Lufkin Police officers are investigating an aggravated robbery that took place in the early morning hours of Sept. 2. The man sought medical treatment for unspecified injuries Thursday, and reported the crime to the police.

"The man sought medical treatment for unspecified injuries on Thursday, some 9 days after the robbery occurred," Lt. David Young said. "He did not give any reason for waiting so long to report the crime."

According to the police report, the aggravated robbery occurred in at an apartment complex in the 1800 block of W. Frank Ave. between 11:59 p.m. Sept. 1 and 12:30 a.m. September 2.

The man told police that an unknown black male began to assault him. When the victim tried to get into his pickup, the assailant allegedly took the victim's 9mm pistol from inside the truck. Then the suspect allegedly used the gun to pistol whip the victim before he took the man's weapon and wallet and left the scene in a Dodge Avenger.
