NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A new season begins in just about an hour at the Lamp Lite Playhouse in Nacogdoches. It's Season 44!
The play is "The Red Velvet Cake War," a comedy full of East Texas humor. The Verdeen cousins, a self-righteous aunt, a one eyed suitor, and a down-home TV hostess are just some of the characters.
"And it's so new that not many people have heard about it. It's written by three East Texas writers who did a lot of TV and they did 'Golden Girls,'" said Sarah McMullan, the play's director. What the show is like is a really good TV situation comedy and something anybody would like. Just a lot of action, in the today, and funny, funny, funny."
"'The Red Velvet Cake War' is tonight and Saturday night at 7:30 p.m., and there will be a Sunday matinee at 2p.m.
The same schedule will be followed next weekend (Sept. 20-22).
The East Texas playwrights say they have a sequel in the making.
