NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches Police officers arrested a 40-year-old man for burglary of a habitation and aggravated kidnapping after he allegedly forced his way into a home in the 3100 block of Logan Circle, assaulted two people, and threatened the occupants with a gun Tuesday morning.

Tolliver is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on felony charges of burglary of a habitation and aggravated kidnapping. No bail has been set at this time.

According to a press release, NPD officers responded to an open emergency line at the residence in the 3100 block of Logan Circle at 6:25 Tuesday morning. Dispatchers could hear a disturbance in progress on the open line.

When the officers arrived on the scene, three women and two girls fled the residence and told the officers there was a man armed with a hand gun still inside the home. The man, who was later identified as Marvin Earl Tolliver Jr., of Houston, allegedly barricaded himself inside the home.

The NPD officers established verbal contact with Tolliver. After they negotiated with him for more than an hour, he surrendered without further incident at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail.

"Further investigation has determined that the suspect had forcibly entered the residence, physically assaulting two of the adults after making entry," the press release stated. "The suspect also threatened the victims with the handgun."

Tolliver is a former boyfriend of one of the home's residents, according to the press release.
