Smith County authorities warning public about man frequenting school bus stops occupied by young females

SMITH COUNTY, TX - The Smith County Sheriff's Department is asking public to be on the lookout for an older model, possibly a 2002 or 2003 silver or gray minivan, occupied by a Hispanic male wearing a ball cap pulled down over his face.

According to the sheriff's department, in the early morning hours, the subject has been frequenting areas with school bus stops occupied by young females. Earlier, he approached a young female and fled the area at a high rate of speed when adults attempted to make contact with him. The incident occurred at a bus stop just south of Tyler near the intersection of Highway 110 and County Road 2228 in Smith County.

Whitehouse Independent School District Superintendent Daniel Dupree says the transportation director will be asking the bus drivers who have routes in the area of the reported incident to be alert when making their stops.

If you see this vehicle and suspect, please call 911 or the Smith County Sheriff's Office at 903-566-6600.
