Good afternoon, everyone! How's everything going today?

We have an interesting story lineup for you this afternoon:

1. If you're like most folks, you've noticed that gas prices in East Texas are dropping a little lower every couple of days. Our Melanie Torre is investigating the cause of the price drop, and why prices can be different from one city to the next, though just a few miles apart. She'll tell you more on East Texas News at 5.  We've also got a slideshow of local gas prices on our website so you can see the variance for yourself.

2. For nearly 60 years, an East Texas woman had only a picture to remember her mother by. In fact, she lived her whole life believing her mother was dead. That is, until a Facebook message from her cousin revealed her mom was alive and was looking for her. Michelle Reed will bring you their amazing reunion story this evening at 5.

3. According to Tennessee authorities, a skydiver has been found dead after an hours-long search for him in a wooded area. The man was one of seven people making what is called a "thrill jump," done at 28,000 feet by a group called "HALO Jumper." Details and video here.

4. Burn bans are being dropped daily; here's today's updated list and more information. Please continue to use caution when you burn, of course.

5. Freshman Senator Ted Cruz filibusters: Standing on the Senate floor Tuesday afternoon, Cruz began a lengthy speech urging his colleagues to oppose moving ahead on a bill he supports. The measure would prevent a government shutdown and defund Obamacare. He vows to speak until he can't speak any longer.  We have a livestream up for you to view Sen. Cruz at this link.

6. As you know, Texas is and always has been full of interesting people. Here's what happened to some of those people today in Texas history.(Does the name Lucchese mean anything to you? They're involved!)

7. If you need a little getaway right there at your desk or at home, this is for you.

Here's the link to our livestream on KLTV.com We'll be live there tonight at 4, 5 and 6!

We'll see you soon!

Tar-covered tires stick to parking lot of Lufkin tire shop

More than a few tar-covered tires are hanging on to the parking lot of a Lufkin tire shop.  On August 31, newly laid asphalt on Loop 287 started sticking to tires of those driving, leaving many of the cars un-driveable. As of Friday, the Texas Department of Transportation hadn't come out with an official cause for the incident, but that hasn't stopped over 600 people from filing claims with them.
