Bye week beneficial for Clowney, Sutton says coach

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

After a week off, the Gamecocks are getting ready for their next opponent, the University of Central Florida Knights, in this weekend's game in Orlando.

The bye week was apparently good for a pair of injured players in Jadeveon Clowney and Chaz Sutton, according to defensive line coach Deke Adams.

"They've been doing good," said Adams. "They've been working hard. They were banged up a little bit, but got a little rest last week. They've been practicing hard. They've been going the last couple of days so I look for them to be ready Saturday."

Clowney has been battling a bone spur issue in one of his feet for several weeks now. He mentioned the issue after the Gamecocks defeated Vanderbilt, saying the problem was "painful."

The junior defensive end says he will wait until the end of the season to address the problem.

Sutton is also dealing with a foot issue of his own.

The Gamecocks take on the Knights this Saturday at noon.
