Tyler tax increase approved

Posted: Updated:
TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The Tyler City Council approved a proposed tax increase Wednesday morning.

A property tax rate increase of 1.23 cents has been approved as part of the 2013-2014 budget. This brings the rate to $0.22 per every $100 valuation.  So, if you have a $150,000 home, the increase for the entire year would be $18.45.

The increase was first proposed by city manager Mark McDaniel at a city council meeting in August. He stated that the increase was necessary to properly fund city services.
