Annual Blessing of the Pets this Sunday

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

The annual Blessing of the Pets is scheduled for this Sunday at St. Cyprians Episcopal Church.

The Lufkin community is welcome to bring their pets: dogs, cats, donkeys and even birds to the gathering.

Father Art Callaham will bless each pet individually.

There will also be fun pet-oriented festivities like a best dressed contest and carriage rides plus animal organizations and rescue groups will also be there.

Well every year around the 1st of October which is the day on which we celebrate the feast day of St. Francis. We invite the community of Lufkin to bring their pets and 4-legged friends out for a prayer service and opportunity to gather as a community and receive God's special blessing on these important members of our family," said Callaham.

You can bring your 4-legged friend to St. Cyprians Episcopal Church, across the street from the new post office on John Reddit on Sunday, September 29, 2013

The festivities run from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
