NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A jointed investigation resulted in the arrest of a third suspect in the armored car robbery that occurred at the Regions Bank located at 30 E. Main in Nacogdoches in 2009.
New evidence in the case led local, state, and federal authorities to obtain an arrest warrant for Markeith Damon Mergerson, 25, of Nacogdoches Thursday afternoon, and he was arrested without incident a short time later.
Mergerson is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a first-degree felony charge of aggravated robbery. No bail has been set at this time.
According to a press release from the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office, law enforcement officials are still looking for another Nacogdoches man, Donnie Daniels. Daniels, 29, is the only suspect that is still at large, and is known to frequent the Lufkin area.
Anyone with any information on Daniels' whereabouts is urged to contact their local law enforcement agency or Crime Stoppers hot line.
Arrest warrants were issued for Daniels, Antonio Sonier, 41, and Samuel Williams, 29, on Sept. 20. Later that day, the NCSO arrested the two Nacogdoches men for aggravated robbery. Williams has also been charged with possession of a controlled substance in a drug free zone.
The Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office, the Nacogdoches Police Department, the Texas Rangers, and the FBI worked together in the investigation.
