LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The author of the children's book Skippy Dimpledot the Christmas Elf got a chance to hang out with the stars on Sunday.

Margie Brody and her daughter Claire received tickets of a lifetime to the 65th Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. Brody said they got to walk the red carpet and meet celebrities like Heidi Klum, Mindy Kaling and even the cast of Breaking Bad. Brody says the most important moment was getting to share the experience with her family.

"We shared it together. We had so much fun and it was a beautiful afternoon. Of course, it was afternoon for us since we were in LA. We actually got on the red carpet about 3 o'clock and just being together—sharing it together," Brody said.

Brody's daughter Claire is a student at the University of Texas at Austin but has been taking classes in Los Angeles through a UTLA program. Claire is a member of the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences, who puts on the Emmy's and was able to get tickets for her family.

"I am so proud of Claire. She has just had a wonderful time in Los Angeles. She is working very hard and following her passion and I am very confident that she will definitely reach her dream of being in the entertainment industry and being very successful," Brody said.
