LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - This weekend East Texans can load up on plants native to the area at the Angelina Beautiful Clean native plant sale.
There will be more than 30 varieties of plants, flowers and trees to chose from.
Master gardener, Elaine Cameron says we should look out our window and see the kind of plants that we would naturally find here.
Plus she adds that native plants require less water, chemicals and care after they're established.
"Native plants are ones that grow here in etx but we can actually buy them from a nursery so we can plant them in our yards because native plants sustain wildlife much better than imported plants," said Cameron.
The native plant sale will be at the Lufkin farmer's market next to the AgriLife Extension Center this Saturday, September 28, 8 to 1 o'clock.
There will be experts on hand to discuss proper care and techniques for successful planting.
There will be a large selection of native plants, free activities for kids, resources & education plus a native landscape photo show.
