NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - After she was indicted for two counts of endangering a child for allegedly encouraging two boys under the age of 15 to fight each other, a Nacogdoches woman turned herself into authorities Thursday.
Hazel May Jones, 56, was charged with two counts of endangering a child, which is a felony. She was booked into the jail and released later Thursday after she posted a bail amount of $5,000.
A Nacogdoches County grand jury indicted Jones on the two charges on Sept. 6.
The indictment states that Jones "intentionally, knowingly, recklessly, or with criminal negligence" placed boy in danger of 'death, bodily injury, or physical or mental impairment" by grabbing a boy by the shirt, leading him, and telling him to fight another boy on July 13.
The second count states that she put the other by at risk in the same way by encouraging the first boy to fight him.
