Volunteer firefighters responding to downtown blaze involved in crash

A crew from an Anderson County volunteer fire department was involved in a crash while responding to a large fire in downtown Palestine.

Palestine Police Sgt. James Muniz said the Southside Volunteer Fire Department crew was involved in the crash on Loop 256 Saturday morning. The crew was responding to the large fire in downtown Palestine that required the assistance from multiple departments.

Muniz said at least one person was transported to the hospital in the crash involving the Southside VFD crew. The severity of those injuries was not known.
