LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A judge has sentenced a Pollok man to seven years in prison for stealing more than $200,000 from his former employer for five years.

District Judge Paul White found Jon Thomas Lacount guilty of first-degree theft in August. Monday's sentencing came following a pre-sentence investigation.

Lacount worked for East Texas Open MRI for several years receiving payments for accounting purposes. He was terminated on March 7, 2011. A grand jury indicted Lacount in December 2011 for theft that had been accounted for since February 21, 2006.

Research shows Lacount used the money to make payments on personal credit cards, property taxes, dental work, vehicle work and for groceries, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit states workers at the business said Lacount had admitted to stealing from the company to pay bills.
