Candidates for Lt. Governor scheduled to debate in East Texas

Posted: Updated:

From Grassroots America - We the People:

Candidates who have declared for the Lt. Governor's race are: Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, State Senator Dan Patrick, Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson, and Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples. The Republican Primary will be held on March 4, 2014.

Choosing one of these men to be the next lieutenant governor of Texas is extremely important. As the presiding chairman of the state senate, the "lite gov" sets the agenda for the Texas Senate and chooses the committee chairs for very powerful senate committees. The lieutenant governor can kill bills and shape the outcome of the legislative session just by who is chosen to chair and serve on a committee.

What: The East Texas Constitutional Alliance – of which Grassroots America is a founding member – will sponsor a Lt. Governor Candidate Forum and Straw Poll

When: Saturday, October 12, 2013

Time: Doors open at 2 PM; event begins at 2:30 PM and ends at 4 PM with straw poll voting until 5 PM.

Location: UT-Tyler Ornelas Activity Center, 3402 Old Omen Road, Tyler, TX.
