An elderly East Texas woman is sharing the story of how she stopped two burglars from stealing from her grandson.

Upshur County officials say the woman, 83, was driving down Bison Road yesterday in Enon, just outside of Gilmer, and noticed a suspicious car in her grandson's yard.

"Deputies responded to a burglary in progress, where a woman in her 80's had walked in on two people inside her grandsons house," says Lieutenant Freddie Fitzgerald of the Upshur County Sheriff's Office.

"I thought my grandson was here. I thought it was his truck and then I saw it wasn't," said the woman, who asked not to be identified.

Feeling that something was out of place, the woman entered and checked out the home, coming face to face with two suspects who had broken in.

"I went through the house, got to the bedroom and there they were. What the heck are ya'll doing here! That was scary when I thought, 'what have I done,'" she says.

"They ran out of the room knocking her down , basically running over her to get out of the residence. She got in her vehicle and followed it for a short distance," Fitzgerald says.

She then went to a neighbors home to call 911. The suspects didn't get away with anything from her grandson's home and she's thankful no one was hurt.

"I don't know if it was brave, just something I got into. I got out of it, thank the Lord," the woman says.

The suspects in this case are described as a tall white man with blonde hair, and a shorter, possibly Hispanic man wearing a baseball hat. Their vehicle is described as a black mid-90's Dodge pick-up truck, with chrome trim around the fender wells and tailgate.
