LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Lufkin Police officers arrested a 25-year-old Lufkin woman Sunday after she allegedly tried to hit her boyfriend with a hammer.

Monette Meshandra Thompson is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on a second-degree felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and a Class B misdemeanor charge criminal mischief between $50 and $500 from Shelby County. Collectively, her bail has been set at $6,500.

Lufkin Police officers responded to a disturbance call at a residence in the 100 block of Erwin at approximately 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

According to Detective J.B. Smith, a spokesman for the Lufkin Police Department, the woman "did not make contact" when she swung the hammer at the victim. He also said the police report did not indicate the reason for the disturbance.
