Pregnancy help Center of Lufkin offering carseat safety check this weekend

Posted: Updated:

When hitting the road, driver want to make sure your child is safely secured.

Safety officials say up to 85% of drivers strap their children in the wrong way.

The Pregnancy Help Center of Lufkin is urging parents to stop by their drive-in carseat safety check Oct. 12, because buckling a child up safely should be a priority before backing the vehicle out of the driveway.

"There are no minor mistakes when installing your child's carseat for your child, or when you are securing them in the car seat properly," event director Kathryn Hughes said. "It could be the difference between a major or minor injury and possibly even death."

The center also says they welcome expecting parents with carseats to the event so they can be better prepared.

The event will be from 9 a.m. to noon, Oct.12 at the Lufkin mall parking lot.
