LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

State representative Trent Ashby made a special visit to Parkwood Place, a short term and long term rehabilitation facility, on Wednesday to play a game of ‘42' with veterans.

"I just felt it was important to come out and show my support for some real American heroes and some people that have put their life on the line for our country," Ashby said.

Ashby says it was his first time to play dominoes and was excited to learn, especially since it was his birthday.

Ashby says veterans are incredibly important to him and he does have plans to help them on the state level.

"I think it's important that we continue to honor the commitment we've made to our nations veterans at the state level. What I can do to join in with the individuals that would be supporting doing whatever it takes to not only support those individuals, but their family members," Ashby said.
