LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police officers are still trying to sort out the details of a disturbance between two car loads of women that reportedly started over comments about one woman's significant other Thursday afternoon.
According to Officer Randy Stallard of the Lufkin Police Department, the disturbance started in the parking lot of Herty Park around 1:30 p.m. Thursday. When the conversation got heated, one of the women allegedly pulled out a switchblade and brandished it.
At that point, both groups of women climbed back into their respective vehicles - a white Nissan SUV and a green Oldsmobile - and drove away.
When both vehicles stopped at the intersection of Canal and Wood streets, the driver of the Nissan SUV got out of her vehicle and went to talk to the women in the Oldsmobile. Stallard said the driver of the Oldsmobile accelerated and hit the driver of the Nissan SUV, causing minor injuries.
The driver of the Nissan SUV was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries. In addition, the driver of the Oldsmobile was complaining of pain and asked to be taken to the hospital as well.
Stallard said aggravated assault charges could be pending against the woman who allegedly brandished a switchblade, and the driver of the Oldsmobile.
