LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The parents of a2-month-old baby that died late last week from malnourishment were in courtthis morning.

Operator: "OK, what'swrong?"

Isaiah: "Umm, thebaby ain't moving or nothing."

Isaiah Tolliver isthe father of a 2-month-old baby that died October 11.

According to the arrestaffidavit, the baby, Imauri Jackson, was observably malnourished - to the pointthat medical attention should have been sought.

East Texas News triedto get a response from the baby's parents Friday.

When asked if Imauri'sdeath was an accident, Tolliver said, "I didn't kill my baby, sir. It wasn't anaccident because I didn't let it happen."

Nacogdoches physicianEddy Furniss is not involved in the case. However, he said from all reports, itwas a preventable situation.

"Average 50thpercentile; a baby at that was about 5 kilos, or 11 pounds, so the baby was atabout half of what it should have weighed," Furniss said. "It's very importantfor younger parents without a lot of support from their parents andgrandparents, to have a family physician or doctor to go to for these questionsand not just go at it on their own."

Time will tell ifthat's what happened.

The Angelina CountyDistrict Attorney's Office could not comment on the case this morning since thecase is still ongoing.
