TYLER, TX (KLTV) -
An East Texas man is in jail after police say he assaulted his wife and daughter.

Tyler police responded to a home on the 1300 block of Bellehaven Court just before 1 a.m., Friday. There they were informed that 52-year-old Vahid Lamea had assaulted his wife and 9-year-old daughter with a knife.

After receiving a 911 call from a family member, police say they arrived at the home and nobody answered. According to police, Lamea had barricaded himself, his wife and their 9-year-old daughter inside the home. Police forced their way in and took Lamea into custody.

The wife and child were transported to a local hospital where they were treated and released. The wife suffered from a stab wound, while the daughter was treated for cuts. According to police, Lamea had assaulted them with a butter knife after an argument with his daughter. The mother stepped in to protect her child when she was stabbed, according to Tyler Police.

Neighbors say the family is originally from Iran, but has lived in the neighborhood for more than four years. Vahid Lamea is a licensed pharmacist and has most recently been working at Super 1 Pharmacy, in Tyler.

Neighbors also tell us they saw the mother and daughter leave the home this morning and both appeared to be in good condition.

Vahid Lamea was arrested for two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and failure to identify.
