NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 32-year-old man Friday after he allegedly tried to sexually assault a female acquaintance at her apartment on Northway Drive on Oct. 12.
Carlos Ramos, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a third-degree felony charge of sexual assault. No bail has been set at this time.
According to the arrest affidavit, a Nacogdoches Police officer was dispatched out to a residence on Northway Drive in reference to an attempted sexual assault at approximately 11:25 p.m. on Oct. 12. The victim told the officer that she was asleep in her bed when she heard a knock at the door.
When she opened the door, she found Ramos, an acquaintance. He asked her if he could come inside, and she allowed him to do so in order to wait for another person to give him a ride. At that point, the woman went back to sleep, the affidavit stated.
The woman was allegedly awakened by Ramos lying on top of her in her bed. According to the arrest affidavit, he had undressed himself from the waist down. While he was lying on top of the woman, Ramos allegedly grabbed her breasts and tried to remove her shorts.
After pushing Ramos away, the victim demanded that he leave her apartment, the affidavit stated. Ramos allegedly fled the scene, and the woman called 911.
According to the affidavit, Nacogdoches PD staff later confirmed that Ramos was not at his residence on County Road 6101 during the time of the offense.
