Trinity County Sheriff's Department unveils new smartphone app to help curb crime

TRINITY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The Trinity County Sheriff's Office has one more tool up their sleeve to fight crime in their community.

They just released a new smartphone application that not only allows you to get breaking news, but take pictures of crime in your neighborhood.

Sheriff Woody Wallace says the app was created by the same developers of the Angelina County Sheriff's Office app, and that he has been working with Sheriff Greg Sanches.

Wallace says he thinks the app will be a great addition to their already social media savvy department.

"I think it's going to be very useful, very helpful. A lot of people have smart phones now so it will be at their fingertips to communicate with us if they need to," Wallace said.

There's also a sex offender registration, a link to the Trinity County Sheriff Office's Facebook page where they post frequently, and you can even commend an officer.

The app is available for a free download on iPhones and Android phones.
