HOUSTON, TX (WAFB) -

The Houston Texans have released former LSU defensive end Sam Montgomery, running back Cierre Wood and linebacker Willie Jefferson.

A source told the Houston Chronicle that the three players were waived due to violations of team rules.

The source said the team sent the three players home Sunday and were told they would be released on Monday.

Montgomery has been a disappointment for the Texans and has been inactive for every game this season.

While at LSU, Montgomery recorded 104 total tackles, 32.5 tackles for loss and 19.0 sacks.
