NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

The Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office has added a charge of injury to child to a Nacogdoches man accused of giving a young girl a sexually transmitted disease.

Jose Ignacio Lopez, 19, has already been charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault of a child, after they determined he had molested the girl.

According to a previous report, the victim's mother reported the incident on Oct. 13 after she had noticed something was wrong with her daughter.

Sheriff Jason Bridges said the child has contracted the STD as a result of the sexual assault and is receiving medical attention for it.

The child said Lopez had sexually assaulted her.

Since then, the sheriff's office has conducted a blood test on Lopez and determined he gave her the STD, which allows them to charge him with a count of injury to a child.

Lopez is currently in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a $150,000 bail.
