Crockett police seek help in catching store robbery suspect

CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) - Crockett police are seeking the public's help in identifying a man who robbed a convenience store clerk early Wednesday.

According to a department press release, Crockett police responded to an active panic alarm at the Okay Food Store, located in the 900 block of South Fourth Street.

Officers arrived and learned the clerk had been robbed at gunpoint. She said it happened shortly after she opened the store. She said a man came into the store dressed in all black clothing, including a black mask and gloves. He pointed a semi-automatic handgun at her and demanded all the money from the register.

Det. Clayton Smith, a spokesman for the Crockett Police Department, said the suspect took about $500 in cash, one beer, and two packs of cigarettes.

The clerk described the man as five-foot-nine, slender and about 19 or 20 years old. She said he wore a bag which was strapped around his shoulder and rested on the front of him.
