BUCKEYE, AZ (CBS5) -

A six-hour police standoff in Buckeye ended peacefully overnight.

Officers were called to Cholla Ranch Apartments on Miller Road just before 6 p.m. Tuesday after getting reports of a man roaming the complex with a weapon.

The suspect, later identified as Edward Tackett, 46, was found by his apartment. When officers were talking to him, he pointed his gun at officers and the officers fired at Tackett.

Tackett then returned to his apartment and barricaded himself inside. Parts of the apartment complex were evacuated.

Buckeye Police SWAT Crisis Negotiators were able to get Tackett to surrender.

Just before midnight, Tackett was arrested and taken to Fourth Avenue Jail on several charges. Residents were able to return to their homes.

No officers or people living in the apartment complex were hurt.

All roadways in the area have since reopened.

The Buckeye police officer, a two-year veteran, has been put on administrative leave during the investigation - a standard practice for officer-involved shootings.
