Local businesses support elderly healthcare at Senior Citizen Halloween bash

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A group of senior citizens to to join in on a special kind of healthcare fun today.

The Lufkin Senior Citizens Center teamed up with Oceans Behavioral Hospital to host its Halloween care festival.

Local businesses like the Center for Sight and Abeldt's Pharamcy were giving out free eye exams and flu shots.

The elderly were encouraged to dress up and Joyce Snail, who is new to Lufkin, spared no exceptions as a bride still waiting for her perfect man.

"Everyone tells me I'm going to be waiting a long, long time for this perfect man," Snail said.

Joking aside, the festival was a way to help senior citizens get more proactive with their health. There were also games, fun and prizes for some lucky guests.

"It's wonderful. It's a great place for the elderly to come to and to be around other people and to get a nice meal and they have a van that will pick them up and so they don't even have to get on the street and drive. It's a wonderful center," Snail said.
