LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Fairview Baptist Church will be bringing in the big shots this weekend for its Restore America event.
Pastors and Reverend's from all over will be speaking about God's word starting tomorrow and ending on Sunday at the Lufkin Convention Center. The event is free, but there will be a luncheon on Saturday starting at Noon, which is $12 a person. Pastor Gene Hazell says the event is a way for the Christian Community to gather.
"We wanted to bring the whole Christian community who are as concerned about the direction of our nation as where we are at as a nation and we have thrown this thing together and brought in some of the greatest speakers of the nation who are involved in the restoration of America. We want to take the nation back we have lost a lot of our religious freedoms and you know we feel if we can get the Christian community stirred up you know really concern and pray for our nation we can take our nation back," Hazell said.
Hazell says the event is to encourage people to help take the nation back and get it back to its original Christian values.
"It's going to be a fantastic event. It's not a political event, everything is going to be preaching to the word of God to call the Christian community back to restore our nation," Hazell said.
The event starts at 6 p.m. on Friday and will end at 8:30 p.m. On Saturday, the luncheon will be from 12-1:30 p.m. and the event will start up again at 4 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. On Sunday, Fairview will host it's morning services at the convention center and the event will start again at 4:30 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m.
