Woman accused of stealing police copy of citation

SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ (CBS5) -

A woman is accused of stealing a Mesa police officer's copy of a citation issued to her as the officer was helping another woman passing by.

Authorities say Joanna Lee Krown, 33, of San Tan Valley, was cited for driving with at suspended license on Tuesday and then allegedly took the copy of the from a police car while the officer was helping an elderly woman change a flat tire.

She was near the patrol car waiting for her husband to pick her up when a woman sought help.

When the officer returned to his car, he says he discovered Krown had left and his copy of the citation was missing.

Police say a surveillance video in the patrol car shows Krown taking the ticket.

Krown is being held on suspicion of third-degree burglary and tampering with evidence.
